ABOUT ME

Sojan moved to Ashford from Kerala, India in 2002. He worked in the NHS for 22 years – primarily in mental health services – holding the roles of ward manager, matron, mental health nurse, and Head of Nursing for community mental health services in Kent and Medway.
He joined the Labour Party in 2015 to oppose the Tory policy of austerity, especially the heavy cuts to public services, which he saw first-hand in his job whilst working in the NHS.
He took on his first political role in 2023, after winning a seat on Ashford Borough Council to represent the Aylesford and East Stour ward.
MY PRIORITIES

Sojan decided to run for his local seat of Ashford in the 2024 election on a local platform of the following priorities:

- Bringing the Eurostar (or continental travel) back to Ashford International
- Being a local and accessible Member of Parliament
Sojan is the first ever Labour Member of Parliament to represent the Ashford Constituency. He is currently serving on the Terminally Ill Adults (end of life) Bill Committee.
